Advanced Practice Nurse Child and Adolescent

Overview

This position is for a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner in Berlin, NJ with a NJ license, CDS, and DEA. 100% on-site - 8 hours outpatient on Mondays and 32 hours partial hospitalization program on Tuesdays - Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • An integral member of the healthcare team, coordinates patient care and communicates and collaborates extensively with the other members of the healthcare team, patients and/or patient's family/guardian.
  • Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.
  • Provides patient and family education relative to nursing/medical and clinical services.
  • Consults with medical specialists associated with patient's current treatment and/or treatment history.
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment to patients admitted to the program.
  • Perform nursing histories and physical assessments.
  • Facilitate patient and families in meeting their psychosocial needs.
  • Provide medication evaluations and management in collaboration with the program's Medical Director/Psychiatrist.
  • Administer medication to patients as prescribed.
  • Annual certification in the Handle With Care behavior management system.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Master's Degree and must have current and valid Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Nurse license.
  • Certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center.
  • Must have State of NJ prescriptive authority.
  • Minimally one year experience working with children.
  • Have a thorough understanding of use of psychotropic medications.
  • Shall be involved in continuing education activities to further his/her own professional development.
