The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing our nursing staff to ensure effective patient care in line with clinical guidelines and nursing standards. Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Ensure medical evaluations for patients meet standards.
• Coordinate patient care as per state nursing practice standards and CFG protocols.
• Manage, mentor, and supervise nursing staff in the medical unit.
• Conduct annual competency assessments for nursing team.
• Assist in defining medical unit's direction, goals, and policies.
• Prepare and submit timely reports to Health Services Administrator.
• Collaborate with primary care providers and staff for seamless patient care.
• Coordinate orientation, in-service training, and continuing education.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Unrestricted RN license in facility's state.
• Minimum three years DON or supervisory nursing experience.
• Current CPR/BLS certification with demonstrated cognitive skills.
• Preferred: Previous experience in correctional healthcare.

Required Skills:

• Strong critical thinking and assessment abilities.
• Proficient in clinical care and emergency response.
• Independent decision-maker.
• Empathetic, assertive, and objective in patient care.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience with Electronic Health Records.
• Command respect from patients and staff; committed to facility's objectives.
• Maintains active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Functional Demands:

• Clear required health and screening tests.
• Flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
