Responsibilities
Our Mental Health Directors oversee the provision mental health services consistent with community standards of care to inmates in County Correctional Facilities. They also provide clinical supervision and serve as the liaison for mental health matters with mental health providers outside the system. Other job responsibilities are:
- Responsible for the direct supervision and evaluation of all mental health staff.
- Implement and enforce all policies and procedures pertaining to the facility's mental health services.
- Meet regularly with the facility's Health Services Administrator to communicate information regarding mental health services.
- Coordinate mental health care with the medical department.
- Administratively oversee the referral process for psychopharmacological interventions .
- Oversee inmate transfers to higher levels of mental health care when necessary.
- Provide direct mental health services as needed.
- Oversee mental health discharge planning for inmates to be released into the community.
Qualifications
- Must possess a degree in Psychology (Ph.D./Psy.D) from an accredited graduate program in Psychology or a degree in Medicine (MD/DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Must be licensed as a Psychologist or Psychiatrist by the in which he/she will provide services.
