Physician’s Assistant

Overview

Under the supervision of the physician; provides direct medical care to the patient, instruction to nursing staff and unlicensed personnel and education to the patient.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains, evaluates and records medical histories.
  • Performs physical examinations.
  • Orders necessary testing for routine and acute health care evaluations.
  • Collects specimens, when necessary, for pathologic examinations.
  • Analyzes and interprets data, formulates problem lists and establishes appropriate plans for management of clinical problems.
  • Initiates necessary consults to specialists and other health care professionals.
  • Counsels and educates patients on health related matters.
  • Provide management for acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Prescribes necessary medications, as authorized by law.
  • Provides consultative services to the Health Services Administrator and designees on patient health related issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Master's Degree from an accredited school.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Must meet all state requirements as they pertain to a physician's assistant.
