Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of psychiatric services, including assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in the clinical setting.
  • Prescribe medication and offer medication management services as necessary, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Analyze and evaluate patient data and test findings to diagnose the nature and extent of mental disorders.
  • Conduct thorough examinations and utilize laboratory or diagnostic tests to gather essential information on patients' general physical and mental health.
  • Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to address mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records for all patients, documenting assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Gather and maintain comprehensive patient information, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress and ensure holistic patient care.
  • Participate in regular case discussions and contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Fulfill on-call responsibilities as assigned, ensuring timely and responsive care for patients in need.
  • Maintain a professional working environment and personal conduct consistent with professional responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed psychiatrist in New Jersey, with a designated Forensic Evaluator preferred.
  • Experience in providing services in inpatient/outpatient environments.
  • Experience in providing services in a correctional environment preferred.
  • Must possess good interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to interact with institutional staff, medical staff and the agencies of the court.
  • Must complete a satisfactory background investigation.
